Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a hands-on therapy used to treat muscle and joint dysfunction, any accompanying pain, and movement restriction. Soft tissue release is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles and restoring mobility and pliability to connective tissues, increasing circulation, and increasing blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
Moderate to significant pressure is utilized, and oftentimes the muscle is taken through its’ full range of motion to ensure adequate soft tissue release. With this type of pressure, it is not uncommon to experience discomfort. Ultimately, our goal is to break through muscle adhesion, allowing the tissue to contract and length with the absence of pain or restriction.
